Winter camping in March is awesome because the days are getting longer and the weather is usually milder than in the early winter.    The Muskoka area is a gorgeous setting for this activity.

We will be going to an area Louise traditionally backpacks to each March with a small group.      Guests of members are welcome; the member will be responsible for their guest(s).  Well-behaved dogs with gentle temperaments are welcome, but must be on leash if/as requested by the leader or other members or if approaching other hikers on a trail.

We will hike in a short distance from the parking lot and set up a basecamp.    We will then set out on 8-16 km day hikes without all the heavy camping gear.  Anyone who does not want to hike can relax in camp. Anyone who wants to camp for fewer nights is welcome, as long as they are able to navigate with a map +-GPS and travel independently to and from camp.

Please wear a hunter's (blaze) orange hat and vest (you must be visible 360 degrees).  WINTER GEAR LIST: https://www.mec.ca/en/explore/winter-camping-gear-checklist.  Bring rain gear, waterproof boots, snowshoes and icers.  Meals are independent.

More information will be forthcoming later to those registered.

Attendees must be double vaccinated against Covid if they are car pooling and must adhere to Covid protocols set out by the Ontario government at all times.

This event will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

Event Organizers: Louise L.

Maximum:  8-10 people

Registration closes on:  Monday March 14, 2022
