Why join Five Winds?
Being a member of Five Winds Backcountry Ski & Snowshoe Club has great benefits! Consider the following:
- Member rates for our winter Sunday bus to get out of the city to ski or snowshoe
- Access to the club's 200km of trails, with no trail fees
- Be with like-minded outdoors people who love the wilderness and care for the land
- Be with people experienced in the backcountry and gain from their knowledge
- Access to the club Gear Board, to buy/sell/swap equipment and discuss equipment
- Be part of a distribution group for members and receive notices about camping trips, exploration in the north, and equipment for sale
Our membership period is from December 1 to November 30.
When you join as a member or renew your membership after March 1, then your membership will be extended for the period that starts on December 1 of the same calendar year. For example, if you join on Sep 10, 2024, then your new membership will be good through until Dec 1, 2025.

Get a $5 discount ($35 instead of the regular membership fee of $40)
Receive by email a promotion for a 15% discount at MEC Queen St for all regularly priced merchandise in the store, available for the week Dec 1 to 7! That can be a lot of value for yourself or for holiday gifts.
This year, we're offering annual membership for $40 plus the fare of a prepaid credit for any 2025 winter bus. This gives you a full credit for one winter bus at a savings of either $3 or $8, depending on if you join before Dec 1! The prepaid credit is non-refundable based on the assumption that you are joining the club to go at least once on our winter bus events.
